Project 2004
CAST (CebuAnimators Society for Talent) has completed its "Summer Project 2004". CAST is based in Cebu Philippines and is an organization to promote the making of 3D animation in the Philippines.
We have down loaded a sample video to the Google's web site. You can take a look at our two and a half minute sample movie.
To learn more about our project, please look at our e-brochure. This tells the story of our succeses and the problems we encountered in animating the challenge that Cebu is the center of the Universe.

The project started as a summer job for three students from the local universities. The students were charged with making a sample 4 or five minute 3D animation movie. They had no experience in animation or Linux (an open source operating system).
In three months time the students learned how to use the Linux OS and the animation program called "Art Of Illusion" This animation program is written in JavaTM. It is an open source application found at the web site www.artofillusion.org.

CAST participates in COMDDAP Expo Cebu 2004
Today CAST (Cebu Animators Society for Talent) participates in COMDDAP (Computer Manufactures Distributors and Dealers Association of the Philippines) Expo Cebu 2004. COMDDAP invited CAST to participate in the Startup City part of the expo. CAST was granted a special subsidized exhibit space to help further the goals of Cebu to become a IT hub of Asia.
CAST exhibited the works and talents of a "Summer Job Project 2004". This project took 3 collage level students and gave them the opportunity to learn 3D computer animation.. They worked for 3 months. The teaching method was by self
help and reading the manual.
